LAST CHANCE to shoot the Steel Creek NRL range in 2026! This will be a great hunting season tune-up! Come test your gear and rifle just before Montana Big Game rifle seasons starts.
ALL NEW STAGES! No repeats from last match. The course of fire will be new shooter friendly with targets in the 2-3 MOA size. Max range is 1000 yards. Most targets will be 450-750 yards, stretching things out a bit more than the last match. There will be several large pans between targets so get to practicing fast target acquisition.
Safety briefing at 8:30 AM
Zero board open at 7:30 AM
9 Stages.
Max round count is 72.
There is a zero-board available.
Water will be provided.
Porta Potty on site.
Dry camping on nearby public land.
Hunters will also receive WPR points.
No refunds.
Squads will Self-RO so make sure you bring a phone with NRL Hunter Scoring app installed on it. You can find it at google play. I will provide a charging bank at each stage. The range has good cell service.
Direction of Fire is almost 360 degrees. The firing line is ¾ of a mile long so round trip may be up to 1.5 miles of hiking with 250 feet in elevation change from top to bottom. This is high desert so cactus are plentiful and snakes are a possibility. Knee pads are recommended. No jog strollers or wagons will survive! You will need a good backpack and hiking boots!
Steel Creek sits in the foothills of the Tobacco Root Mountains just east of Twin Bridges, MT. The NRL range runs from sagebrush hills to rocky ridges and scattered pine trees. 6-7 canyons and coolies come together at the ridge used for the firing line creating great shooting angles and challenging winds. The trail is not groomed, and stages use almost all natural features to create a realistic hunting scenario.
Finally, we will be following NRL Hunter Games rules.
- 16 lbs or less for rifle and dedicated gear.
- No divisions like “open light” or “factory”. Everyone shoots in the same group even if registration shows otherwise.
- No power factor.
- 30 Cal or smaller and must be under 3200 fps
- Hunters are shown the targets and shooting positions prior to the stage starting, but everything else is done on the clock.
- All gear is deployed on the clock.
Please let me know if you have questions.
Looking forward to seeing you all!
