Cactus Classic at HDMR

The Cactus Classic comes to Hawk’s Double Mountain Ranch! This year’s match will be held on HDMR’s 26,000 acres of rugged West Texas ranch country overlooking the Brazos River. Expect a great mix of hunting inspired stages that will test your shooting skills with impressive natural terrain, challenging canyon winds, and angle shots not found on a flat range. The course itself will be physically demanding, but parking and road access near the shooting area is available and excellent regardless of weather and you will be able to access your vehicle during the match. As always, we will have our mandatory shooter’s meeting Friday evening followed by the famous shrimp boil! You don’t have to stay for dinner but you don’t want to miss it. Plan to shoot 11 stages on Saturday with lunch provided on site, followed by an early start and the remaining 9 stages and awards banquet on Sunday. All stages will be open both days to facilitate smooth match flow.

Ranch Entry: As this is a working cattle/hunting ranch, it is ESSENTIAL that you pay attention to the itinerary and be on time when the gate is opened for entry.

Weather: West Texas weather in March is anyone’s guess. We can have cool mornings and warm days with wind from calm to insane. Rain chance is slight but always possible. Come prepared for anything and have fun no matter what comes!

No refunds will be available but if you need to sell your slot just keep us in the loop and we can adjust as needed.

RANGE OFFICERS

To help us reward and better secure quality ROs during the 2-day event, vetted individuals will be offered a complimentary match slot for the opportunity to complete all stages in 1-day timeframe (on the RO Shoot Day), for points amongst the other hunters and for prize eligibility. The opportunity at this is set to take place on the competitor Check-in Day.

FRIDAY, MAR 27th 

RO SHOOT DAY

• 7:00AM – RO competitor safety briefing (Mandatory)

• 7:30AM – ROs shoot for points amongst all hunters and are eligible for prizes (all stages)

• Lunch provided for ROs who are shooting

• 4PM – Weigh-in/Velocity at Check-in Table immediately after completion

HUNTER CHECK-IN DAY

• 12:30PM – 5:00PM – Hunter Check in at Double Mountain Ranch Lodge. Zero Board and data targets will be available on site to check DOPE.

• 5:00PM – 5:30PM – Shooter safety briefing/Q&A

• 5:30PM – 7:30PM Seafood boil dinner/social.

• 8:00PM – Ranch gate closes, all shooters not staying on premises must exit before closure

SATURDAY, MAR 28th

• 6:30AM – Ranch Gate Open for shooter entrance

• 7:00AM – 7:30AM – Hunters to Stages

• 7:30AM: Ranch Gate Closes, Range Hot

• 12:00PM – Lunch provided on course

• 3:30PM – Intended time of Day 1 completion (this will vary)

SUNDAY, MAR 29th 

• 6:30AM – Ranch Gate Open for shooter entrance

• 7:00AM – 7:30AM – Intended time to begin hunting steel (6-8 Stages)

• 07:30AM: Ranch Gate Closes, Range Hot

• 1:30PM – Intended time of Day 2 completion (this will vary)

• 2:00PM – Lunch/Awards at Double Mountain Ranch Lodge
