Spears Mountain Safari

This match takes place on historic Spears Mountain, home of one of five top secret the Cold War facilities established on the east coast to facilitate communications in the event of nuclear war. Today it is home to Black Bear Shooting Club.

Home to The Major Land Sniper Cup match, Black Bear provides challenging opportunities rare to the east coast. Mountainious terrain and picturesque views of the James river will fill both days.

Lunch will provided on Saturday and at the awards ceremony on Sunday.

Air BNB and VRBO options are available in Appomattox and Lynchburg, VA. For those so inclined some of the best smallmouth bass fishing in the country is close by and guided trips are available through local shops.

No refunds will be available but if you need to sell your slot just keep us in the loop and we can adjust as needed.

RANGE OFFICERS

To help us reward and better secure quality ROs during the 2-day event, vetted individuals will be offered a complimentary match slot for the opportunity to complete all stages in 1-day timeframe (on the RO Shoot Day), for points amongst the other hunters and for prize eligibility. The opportunity at this is set to take place on the competitor Check-in Day.

RO SHOOT DAY

• 7:30AM – RO competitor safety briefing (Mandatory)

• 7:00AM – RO Shoot Day (all stages for points & prizes amongst all hunters)

HUNTER CHECK-IN DAY

• 12:00PM – 5:00PM – Hunter Check-in/Weigh-in/Velocity/Zero.

SATURDAY, May 2

• 7:00AM – Hunter Safety Briefing

• 7:30AM – Hunters on stages

• 8:00AM – Range is hot

• Lunch Provided

SUNDAY, May 3 

• 7:00AM – Intended time to begin hunting steel (5 Stages)

• Anticipated completion 12:30-1:00pm

• Awards begin immediately after match completion.

• Lunch will be served
